HADO World Cup 2026: England, Wales and Scotland Prepare for Shanghai

22 October 2026

Just 29 days until the action begins in Shanghai! Teams representing England, Wales and Scotland are preparing to take on the world at the HADO World Cup 2026, bringing UK talent, teamwork and determination to the international stage.

The HADO World Cup takes place on 21 November, as a headline event of the VIRTUAL SPORTS FESTIVAL, running from 20–22 November in Shanghai’s North Bund. With international teams gathering to compete, it promises to be an exciting celebration of augmented reality sport.

Team England: Ready to Shine in Shanghai

After finishing fourth at last year’s HADO World Cup, Team England is returning with ambitions to go further.

Representing England this year are Sham, Alex, Rohan, Roma and Nathan, joined by coach Ash and team leader Jim. With experience from last year’s competition and plenty of determination, the squad is preparing to give everything on the court.

We’re also delighted to have PinPoint Data Science supporting Team England on the journey to Shanghai. Their sponsorship helps the team take on the world stage, and we’re grateful to have them behind England as preparations continue.

Wales and Scotland Return to the World Stage

After competing at last year’s HADO World Cup, Wales and Scotland are also returning to Shanghai, giving UK supporters even more teams to cheer on.

Team Wales will head to China with coach Nathan and players Huw, Durbin and Tad, while Dan, Alex and Robbie will represent Team Scotland.

For players, coaches and supporters across the UK, it’s an opportunity to celebrate our HADO community and get behind each team as they take on international competition once again.

What Is HADO? Augmented Reality Meets Physical Sport

HADO is an augmented reality (AR) sport that combines real-world movement with digital gameplay. Wearing AR headsets and arm sensors, players compete on a physical court, launching virtual energy balls, deploying shields and dodging incoming attacks. Think dodgeball meets a video game—with teamwork and strategy at the heart of every match.

Played in a three-versus-three format at the World Cup, HADO brings together quick reactions, coordinated attacks and tactical decisions. Players can see the real court, their teammates and their opponents through their headsets, with digital effects added to the action. From discovering HADO in the UK to competing in international AR sports tournaments, it’s a sport that offers something for first-time players and dedicated competitors alike.
